ART FARM Kids’ Workshops

Kids explore the farm, meet animals and plants, make original art with professional artists, enjoy nature, play games. Weekly sessions from 9am to 2:30pm M-F. Ages 6-13 $325 per session, limited space.

SPROUTS!

Our ART FARM FOREST workshop will help participants reconnect with the natural world. Kids spend the entire day outside with plants & animals. Weekly sessions from 9am to 2:30pm M-F. Ages 4-8 $350 per session, very limited space.

Overnight Camp

First campers spend time hiking, swimming, biking, canoeing, and team building at Trail Blazers’ Mashipacong Estate in Montague, NJ. Then they spend 5 days on the farm: collecting eggs, caring for animals, gardening, baking bread, and exploring nature.

Art Farm Kids’ Workshops

  • Birds! Birds! Birds! Printmaking & Baking

    Week 1 -- July 1-5

    w/ Queens Artist Ondine Crispin

    • Walk around the farm looking for birds & listening to calls

    • Make drawings & prints of birds

    • Make bird crafts

    • Plus - make apple turnovers!

  • Space Invaders: Sewing & Building for the Future!

    Week 2 -- July 8-12

    w/ Queens Artist Helen Quinn

    • Sew alien monster stuffed animals

    • Build a spaceship

    • Construct a robot

    • Silkscreen a space T-shirt

    • Think about & discuss the solar system

  • Cat at Night: Nocturnal Animals on the Farm

    Week 3 -- July 15-19

    w/ Queens Artist Helen Quinn

    • What does being nocturnal mean?

    • Build & model the farm at night

    • Print a glow-in-the-dark T-shirt

    • Make a baby owl

    • Paint a giant moth

  • Metalsmithing & Enameling tools & techniques

    Week 4 -- July 22-26

    w/ Local Artist Karin Bremer

    • Build & paint wooden displays

    • Introduction to tools & metal forming techniques using both copper + brass

    • Experiment with colored glass on copper surfaces

    • Torch fire copper shapes into jewelry + art

Our ART FARM FOREST workshop

To be held alongside each of the ART FARM workshops - This program serves as an aid for your child to reconnect to the natural and more-than-human world. The goal of this program is to decolonize our connection to nature and establish a more deeply rooted and personal relationship with the natural world. Great for kids ages 4-8 yrs!

ADULT WORKSHOPS!

Come play and create at the farm with our guest Artists!

These workshops are designed for grownups and teens who want to try their hand at creating art using different mediums and techniques. $125/person. Space is limited. Stay at the farm after the workshop for Pizza Night

  • June 29 - Torch Fired Enameling

    1pm - 5pm

    w/ Local Artist Karin Bremer, Windfall

    *Cut and form copper shapes

    *Apply powdered glass

    *Create colorful enamel surfaces with an acetylene torch

    *Make earrings, pendants or simple small works of art

    1pm - 5pm

    *Learn the basics of relief printmaking

    *Create a drawing

    *Carve a block

    *Create repeat pattern prints

    *Print pattern prints with vegetables

    *Go home with beautiful prints

  • Indigo dyed fabric

    August 10 - Indigo Dyeing

    1pm - 5pm

    w/Queens Artist/Activist Helen Quinn

    *Explore different resist dye techniques

    *Learn about Indigo, the plant

    *Dye a pillowcase & tote bag in gradations of blue

    *Bring up to 2 items from home that could use a re-fresh like a light colored shirt or tea towel

    *Wear old clothes that you can get dirty and rubber gloves if you have them
