We were greeted this morning by a phone call from our neighbor Anna, "The Belted Galloways are out." she said calmly. A few more details and we were on our way out the door about 7:30. My first thought was to blame the 15" of snow that fell recently. As it turned out the snow really saved our butts. We tracked them down on the road. Kate blocked the road with our big fat Volvo and I ushered them back on the four-wheeler. They high-tailed it back down the trail cut through the snow right into their fenced area. They had simply pushed a big mound of hay on top of the electric tape. Once back in they seemed content to wait for me to fluff up there mound of loose hay. A few started munching and we tightenned up the fence and added a few posts. In other news Elle blessed us with some early lambs! Cute sturdy looking fellows. (gender currently unknown) We failed to get the ram out early enough in the Fall and figured there was at least a small possibility that this might happen. There's a good chance that more will come soon. Weather report calls for a warmish week nearing 40 with no rain. As good a week for Winter lambing as you can hope.
Greg made some delicious blueberry pancakes that I washe down with a delicious cup of coffee.
All things considered- fantastic Sunday morning!
